Pale bellwort grows in slightly drier, forests than large-flowered bellwort (U. grandiflora) and on more acidic soils such as occur in white pine-hardwood forests. It does well on sandy loam soil. It tends to form patches---especially pretty on gentle slopes where the flowers can be seen.
